Gymnasium - A very large and well-equipped gymnasium for the children to play will be available to all families. So dress comfortably and be ready to chase those kids!
Art and Crafts Project - for the kids to express their creative sides

Rainbow Families will also provide coffee, soft drinks and dessert.

Directions:
Route 78 West:
Take Route 78 West, following signs as it turns into Route 24 West. Take Route 24 West for about one mile, stay in the right lane, and take the SPRINGFIELD-SUMMIT-MILLBURN exit. Bear right on to the exit ramp. This puts you on Broad Street. Go through four traffic lights. At the fifth light, make a left onto Maple Street. At the traffic light, make a right onto Morris Avenue. At the next corner, make a left onto Prospect Street. The Connection parking lot is the second entrance on your left.

Garden State Parkway Northbound:
Take GSP North to exit 142, following signs for Route 78 East. Take the first exit (Hillside/Irvington) and bear right to go over Route 78 in order to get back onto it to be able to head west on Route 78. NOTE: This is the only way you can enter Route 78 West from Parkway North. Follow above directions from Route 78 West.

Garden Strate Parkway Southbound:
Take exit 142 to Route 78 West. Follow above directions from 78 West.

NJ Turnpike Northbound:
Take NJ Turnpike to Garden State Parkway North (exit 11) and follow above directions for Parkway North.

NJ Turnpike Southbound:
Take exit 14 (Newark Airport) to Route 78 West. Follow above direction from Route 78 West.

Route 78 Eastbound:
Take Exit 45. Turn left onto Glenside Avenue. Go past the stop sign and bear left to turn onto Morris Avenue. Go past the second traffic light on Morris Avenue. Continue through to the first intersection and make a left turn onto Prospect Street. The entrance to the Connection parking lot is the second driveway on left.

Route 24 Eastbound:
Take “Summitt Avenue” exit. Follow Summitt Avenue through downtown Summitt to Morris Avenue. Make a right on Morris Avenue to Maple Street. Go through light at Maple and Morris. The Connection will be on your left. Make immediate left after the Connection to Prospect Street. The entrance to the parking lot is the second driveway on your left.

Route 24 Westbound:
See above instruction under Route 78 West.


RFNJ 3nd ANNUAL FAMILY PICNIC

Join Rainbow Families for a cook-out, organized games and fun!

This is a great family event, under a covered picnic pavilion on a wide open grassy field….also near a playground and bathrooms!!
Elementary school teachers will run our games and races.

SUNDAY, September 14 • 11:00am to 3:00pm (new date!)

RFNJ will provide burgers, hot-dogs, condiments, chips, drinks and all paper goods. Families - please bring a side dish or dessert.

Games are planned for families and kids of all ages!

This event is rain or shine – the picnic area is under a covered pavilion.

RFNJ Members will receive e-mail invitations.

Non-members are welcome and can “RSVP” to info@rainbowfamiliesnj.org Please include in your email the number of adults, number of children, and ages of children attending.

JOIN RFNJ FAMILIES FOR A MEMORIAL DAY CAMPING WEEKEND AT THE YMCA FAIRVIEW LAKE CAMP
When: Friday, May 23 through Sunday, May 25
Where: Fairview Lake YMCA Camp, Newton, NJ
What:  The Y Camp offers a variety of indoor and outdoor activities throughout the day that include hiking, boating, rock-climbing, candle-making, bonfire-singing, tie-dyeing, and many others.   See the brochure for full details

Cost:  Cost for the weekend (2 nights) is $115 per adult, $100 for kids ages 12-17, $85 for kids ages 4-11; 3 & under are free. This is a sleep-away camp with all accommodations, meals and activities included in the cost. 

What to do:  Link to the brochure above, or to the Y Camp website and click on PROGRAMS, then click on FAMILY CAMP and click on the pdf file for the brochure and registration form. The brochure has full information about the camp, activities, directions, and pricing. You will be registering directly with the Y Camp; on your registration form, be sure to INDICATE YOU ARE PART OF THE RAINBOW FAMILIES group.

***You can bunk with other families, but you must coordinate with them before you register and indicate the other family's name on your registration form.  Most cabins have 10 bunks.

Please note that other families and groups attend Family Weekend; RFNJ will have some separate space and activities, but in other regards we are integrated with the other weekend participants.

A Day at the beach with Rainbow Families of New Jersey

Things to know…

  • Parking is on the street.
  • We will meet at the badge booth on the boardwalk (near Ocean Avenue and Park Place) at 10:00am. Those who arrive later, look for our banner or a rainbow flag on the beach.
  • Each person is responsible for purchasing her/his own beach badge - $7/day for adults; no charge for children ages 13 and under.
  • RFNJ will provide juice, water and sand toys.
  • There are bathrooms, snack bars and playgrounds in walking distance.
